Galerie Taménaga Tokyo: Relocate from Ginza to Kotto-dori, Minami-Aoyama
General information

This autumn, Galerie Taménaga Tokyo will inaugurate its new flagship location on Kotto-dori, Minami-Aoyama — one of Tokyo’s most esteemed cultural and design districts. This relocation marks a pivotal moment in the gallery’s evolution, establishing a space three times larger than its current premises and reaffirming its commitment to fostering artistic excellence in a setting worthy of its legacy.
Founded in 1969 in the heart of Ginza, Galerie Taménaga has long stood at the intersection of tradition and innovation, presenting works by the masters of European modernism alongside those of contemporary visionaries. Over the past 56 years, the gallery has cultivated a reputation as a trusted purveyor of fine art to major museums and private collectors throughout the archipelago. With the successful expansion into Paris and Osaka in 1971, and the opening of its Kyoto gallery in 2021, the transition from Ginza to Minami-Aoyama represents both a symbolic and strategic renewal. The new venue will offer an enhanced platform for ambitious curatorial programming and immersive exhibitions that reflect the gallery’s global perspective.
To celebrate the grand opening, Galerie Taménaga will present a commemorative exhibition launching this autumn. This special showcase will unveil new and exclusive works created for the occasion by twenty of the gallery’s foremost contemporary artists—each piece a testament to the gallery’s enduring dedication to artistic dialogue, craftsmanship, and cultural relevance.
