About
Opening reception in the presence of the artist: November 21 (Sat) 4:00pm – 6:00pm
A bridge between past and present, a harmony woven by the fusion of East and West. CHEN Jiang-Hong: Capturing the essence beyond the visible world.
Galerie Taménaga is pleased to announce the simultaneous hosting of the “CHEN Jiang-Hong Exhibition” at two of our galleries. The exhibition will be held at our Osaka gallery from Saturday, November 21 to Sunday, December 13, 2026, and at our Tokyo gallery from Saturday, November 14 to Sunday, December 6.
This exhibition will unveil a total of 34 powerful new works at each location, all created during CHEN Jiang-Hong’s two stays in Kyoto in the summer of 2025 and the spring of 2026.
By immersing himself in the traditions of Kyoto’s temples, gardens, architecture, and art, CHEN Jiang-Hong returns to his roots, reconnecting with a sensibility that is inherently part of him, yet perhaps had grown distant. Through this experience, he re-examined ancient Chinese painting—particularly its relationship with landscape, space, and time. Rather than returning to tradition merely to reproduce it, he uses it as a lens to rediscover something within his own inner self, finding new possibilities for his art.
Therefore, the artist states that the works in this exhibition are not simply the outcome of a residency, but rather part of an ongoing process of exploring new directions in his work while returning to his roots. We cordially invite you to view these works that serve as a bridge between the past and the present, sublimated into something entirely new.
