Ryoichi Taguchi

Born in 1981 in Osaka Prefecture. Graduated from Kyoto Seika University with a Ph.D. in Graduate School of Technology. He creates works using burnished silver foil that has been discolored by “foil burning”, a deep-secret technique dating back to the middle of the Edo period, in which silver foil is sulfurized with sulfur. The artist is self-taught in the technique through trial and error, and continues independent research, expressing a unique texture and atmosphere in his works.
