Masako Nakahira
Born in Shiga Prefecture in 1979, Masako Nakahira completed a Master’s degree in Fine Arts at the Graduate School of Art, Kyoto Seika University.
Working primarily in oil painting, the artist creates delicate and evocative scenes by rendering only limited areas in precise detail while intentionally leaving the surrounding space ambiguous. “The World Turns Over” series, depicting reflections on water surfaces and waterside landscapes, as well as the “On the Way Home” series, which captures nocturnal cityscapes with a light and atmospheric touch, were exhibited at ART FAIR TOKYO in 2025 and 2026, where all works sold out.
Major solo exhibitions include “Collection II” (Salon Mosaic, Osaka, 2025), while selected group exhibitions include “ART SESSION by GINZA TSUTAYA BOOKS” (GINZA TSUTAYA BOOKS, Tokyo, 2025). The artist has also created new cover illustrations for Naoki Prize-winning author Shino Sakuragi’s novels Hotel Royal, Kazokujimai, and Hadaka no Hana (all published by Shueisha Bunko).
